The first trade fair dedicated to environmental equipment and technologies in Morocco was born 10 years ago from the strong stakes of the sector, a real national priority and resulting in major investments, but also driven by the opening of the Kingdom to new specialized events in important sectors such as sanitation, collection, treatment and recovery of waste, renewable energy….
For this 10th edition, which will be held at the International Fair of Casablanca, from Tuesday the 2nd to Friday the 5th of October 2018, under the aegis of the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Sustainable Development, the Secretariat of State for Sustainable Development and the Ministry of Industry, Investment, Trade and the Digital Economy, Pollutec Morocco highlights the Sustainable City and Innovation and continues its influence towards the African continent by offering Guinea Conakry the status of guest of honour.
Sustainable City and Innovation
Urban territories seen as back bones of the economy, spaces of connectivity, creativity and innovation, concentrate all the attention while cities are confronted with a set of profound social and economic changes. To meet these challenges and open onto solutions adapted to the specificities of each territory, the Sustainable City Space, a joint event with Pollutec Morocco, will propose a dedicated exhibition area and a conference programme.
This year, the show will also welcome innovative startups accompanied by their incubators, and involved in sustainable development in Morocco and Africa, around the themes of the city and eco-districts, urban mobility, waste, water, energy, air or climate change.
The Republic of Guinea in Honour
Following on from previous editions, Pollutec Morocco and its partners, the Moroccan Investment and Export Agency, abbreviated AMDIE in French; the French Environment and Energy Management Agency; ADEME, the Prospective Economic Institute of the Mediterranean World; and IPEMED, will invite various countries in sub-Saharan Africa to exchange views with their Moroccan counterparts on sustainable development initiatives for African local authorities.
After Ivory Coast, Guinea Conakry, which attaches particular importance to environmental issues, will be in the limelight offering real economic opportunities to eco-industrials exhibiting at the event. Thus, a Guinean delegation of decision-makers from the country, led by the Ministry of the Environment, Water and Forests, will be active throughout the exhibition to present to the professionals present, national projects in progress and exchange with potential partners.
Pollutec Morocco 2018, faithful to its primary vocation, continues to support the deployment of the Kingdom’s National Sustainable Development Strategy and will host the 7th edition, the Symposium “Sustainable Territories” organized by the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Sustainable Development and the Association for Sustainable Development, Ecology and Preservation of the Environment (ADEPE). On the agenda this year: an inventory of the operationalization of the NSDS at the territorial level and an insight into the role of local authorities in its implementation.
