To meet today’s water-related challenges of availability, quality, management and safety, the International Water Association (IWA) is focusing on creative solutions. With this in mind, the independent non-governmental organization (NGO) announces the opening of entries for its water-focused “Project Innovation Awards” on February 5, 2024. “Awarded every two years at our World Water Congress and Exhibition (in August 2024), these prizes recognize and encourage excellence and innovation in water management, research and technology,” says the IWA.
Individuals or teams with projects have until February 23, 2024 to apply. Among the panoply of candidates that will be registered, those selected at the end of this selection process will be invited to submit complete dossiers between March 8 and 19, 2024, following six prestigious categories, each highlighting excellence in specific areas of the water sector. “There will be a gold, silver and bronze award in each category. Gold winners will be considered for the IWA 2024 Innovation Grand Prize,” reveals the IWA.
An opportunity for Africans too
Africa, which is facing an unprecedented water crisis, will also have an interest in taking part in this innovation event. The “Project Innovation Awards” could provide African project leaders not only with recognition, but also with the opportunity to contribute to national and global dialogues on how to overcome water-related challenges through innovative solutions.
As a reminder, the International Water Association’s “Project Innovation Awards” were launched in 2006. They support the idea that common water challenges can be overcome through the development and implementation of innovative solutions.
