This scholarship program mainly targets the Congo Basin, it is one of the most important biodiversity reserves in the world. It carries nearly 20% of all known plant and animal species. The programme will therefore support efforts already made to protect this area.
The countries concerned are Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Republic of Congo and Uganda. The scholarship is opened to young people up to the age of 35. The deadline for applications is June 17, 2018.
An action of the Conservation Action Research Network
The Conservation Action Research Network (CARN) established the Aspire Grant program in 2014 to support and encourage young African scientists to conduct new research and protection management activities that address critical challenges to wildlife, biodiversity and ecosystem health in the Congo Basin. The aim is to provide these researchers with “interim funding” that will enable them to assert themselves on the international scene.
CARN is a network whose goal is to advance efforts to conserve biodiversity, promote ecosystem health, and protect wildlife species and threatened habitats in order to promote environmental protection.
