Architects, urban planners and political leaders are expected in Yaoundé, Cameroon, from 23 to 25 October 2023 for the fifth Climate Chance Africa Summit (SCCA), which will focus on inclusive and sustainable housing.
The city of Yaoundé in Cameroon has been chosen to host the Climate Chance Africa Summit (SCCA) from 23 to 25 October 2023. The three-day event, co-organised by Célestine Ketcha Courtès, Cameroon’s Minister of Housing and Urban Development (MINHDU), will bring together 1,500 participants and 300 panellists around 40 discussion platforms (workshops, pitch corners and high-level plenary sessions).
Access to fair housing, decentralised cooperation in support of climate action and housing, construction using local materials and energy efficiency in buildings, new jobs in the ecological transition and resilient urban planning are just some of the topics on the agenda at this fifth edition of the conference, whose theme is “Living in Africa in an inclusive and sustainable way”.
A number of leading figures from different backgrounds will be taking part in the discussions. They include Vincent Kitio, Director of the Urban Energy Unit at UN Habitat, Prudence Adjanohoun, Secretary General of the Réseau habitat et francophonie (RHF), and Delphine Chêne, President of AFRIK 21, a partner of the SCCA, Virginie Dago, Country Director of the French Development Agency (AFD) in Cameroon, Jean-Pierre Elong Mbassi, Secretary General of the United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG Africa), and Jean-Jacques Kotto, President of the Union des Architectes d’Afrique (AUA).

Then to the 12th World Urban Forum (WUF12) in 2024. The Yaoundé Declaration will present concrete sectoral proposals to accelerate climate action”, says the association founded by French senator Ronan Dantec.
