The sixth cohort of the Med Innovant Africa prize organised by Euroméditerannée is known. The winners were unveiled during the Emerging Valley summit which closed on 29 November 2022 in the French city of Marseille. The winner is the Tunisian start-up Wayout Ecological Solutions headed by Mohamed Rammeh. The company is developing the “Zigofiltre” solution, which ensures the cleanliness of rainwater drainage networks in 11 Tunisian municipalities using a waste recovery filter.
The second winner of the competition was the “GreenBox” platform, which allows small farmers to store their food for longer. The solution developed in Congo by Osvaldo Rey Mokouma offers solar-powered mobile cold rooms and training workshops for farmers and vendors to reduce food waste in the Central African country.
“In addition to receiving an award of €7,000 and €2,500 respectively, the two winners will receive technical support and communication activities to develop their solution in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. The theme of the competition was the structuring of the informal city and more than 120 applications were received. We are going to accelerate the development of eco-innovative start-up projects that respond to problems related to the sustainable city,” says the Euroméditerannée public development establishment.
