The Cape Town International Convention Center (CTICC) will open its doors from May 14 to 16, 2019 to welcome participants to the 19th edition of the African Utility Week. Gathering professionals from the water and energy sectors in Africa, the meeting will focus on the production, distribution and storage of energy in Africa. The idea is to identify, through the sharing of experience, new practices for a better management of the continent’s energy heritage.
Representatives from 81 countries are expected. The conference will provide an opportunity for more than 10,000 decision makers and 350 exhibitors to reflect on how to make the water and energy sectors more competitive in Africa. It will also serve as a forum to discuss, “real business proposals to streamline their procurement process by linking African decision makers in public services, municipalities and commercial enterprises with technology and service providers.”
Below are some of the themes on the agenda for the meeting:
– Climate change and extreme weather conditions;
– Addressing the growing threat of drought: embracing resilience in the face of climate change
– Access to energy: partnership agreements to improve access to energy;
– Critical factors that can influence the success of energy projects;
– Expanding the energy mix and diversifying operating models;
– Access to energy: strategies to meet growing demand;
– From waste to energy;
– Coca-Cola Initiative on Sustainable Water Management;
– How to exploit the decisive advances in the field of energy storage.

The African Utility Week will be held simultaneously at PowerGen Africa. The event is an annual event, which has been launched since 2012, with the aim of helping experts in the energy sector to exchange with peers so as to acquire new technologies suitable for their various companies.
