The Netherlands Development Organisation (SNV) and World Waternet (WWn) are launching a call for expressions of interest for the recruitment of a company in the framework of the Integrated Water Resources Management Project entitled Water for Sustainable Development (WSSD). For a period of six months, the company will supervise the rehabilitation and construction of drinking water supply and sanitation facilities in the Eastern and Boucle du Mohoun regions of Burkina Faso.
For the drinking water component, the company will be responsible for monitoring the construction of nine human-powered pumps in nine villages in the councils of Kona (Ble, Nana, Dangouna, Pie, Tona, Lah) and Safane (Kira, Doumakele, Kongosso) in the Boucle du Mohoun region, as well as approving the design and execution documents. The project will also rehabilitate nine existing human-powered pumps, with the aim of improving the supply of drinking water to the population.

The monitoring and control office will also provide assistance in the acceptance and commissioning of future installations. Interested service providers have until 6 February 2023 to apply to the SNV-WWn consortium.
The company will have to carry out the same tasks in the eastern region, in particular in the province of Gourma where nine new autonomous water stations will be built. The stations will be connected to hand-washing facilities and will also serve other purposes in 10 health and social promotion centers (CSPS) in the region. The sanitation component of the project will construct 10 latrine blocks and 17 cabins with handwashing facilities.

Under this ECDD project, SNV and WWn have received funding of €12.45 million (approximately CFA 8.2 billion) from the Netherlands. The initiative also aims to strengthen institutions involved in water, sanitation, and agricultural management, including water agencies, local water committees (Cle), councils, and agricultural umbrella organizations in Burkina Faso by December 2024.
