New training courses in renewable energy professions are being prepared in Burkina Faso. On December 4th, 2020, the National Agency for Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency (ANEREE) launched a call for applications for specialists in the clean energy sector who have until December 9th, 2020 to apply.

The experts selected by ANEREE will build capacity in various areas, including the dimensioning, installation and maintenance of photovoltaic solar energy systems. The training courses will be held from 10 to 21 December 2020. Eventually, the beneficiaries will be able to better respond to the concerns of the populations. They will contribute to the achievement of the Burkinabe government’s objective of producing a large part of the electricity consumed in the country from solar photovoltaic systems. “The rate of sunshine is very favourable in Burkina Faso (3,000 hours of solar radiation per year), with 5.5 to 6 kWh per m2 per day (more than 2,800 hours/year) in almost the whole country, which makes it possible to use solar photovoltaic technologies efficiently,” says ANEREE.

ANEREE’s recent call for applications was launched as part of the Burkina Faso component of the West Africa Competitiveness Support Programme (PACAO-BF). The initiative, funded by the European Union and implemented by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Burkina Faso (CCI-BF), comes at a time when a training offer is underway in the country. It is aimed at 2,000 young technical salespeople in the renewable energy and energy efficiency professions. The call for applications launched by ANEREE on November 16th, 2020 will be closed on December 15th, 2020. According to the public body, each apprentice will benefit from a three-day theoretical and practical training course, which will be sanctioned by a certificate.
