In Cameroon, the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF) through the Institut de la Francophonie pour le développement durable (IFDD) is preparing the installation of a new manufacturing laboratory (Fab Lab). The third place that will be installed inside the National Polytechnic School of Yaoundé will allow putting research and innovation at the service of sustainable development in Africa.
The Institut de la Francophonie pour le développement durable (IFDD) through the Project for the Deployment of Environmental Technologies and Innovations for Sustainable Development and Poverty Reduction (PDTIE) is launching an international call for tenders for the establishment of an environmental innovation laboratory within the National Advanced School of Engineering Yaoundé.
Applications for the supply, installation and commissioning of electromechanical equipment and materials are expected before June 13, 2022. This project benefits from the dual supervision of Kongo University in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Engineers without Borders platform based in Cameroon, within the framework of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OEACP).
Initiatives at the heart of sustainable development
In September 2021, as part of the PDTIE, IFDD awarded 15 non-profit organizations in Cameroon and the DRC grants ranging from 150,000 to 400,000 euros to conduct two studies on the use of local and indigenous knowledge for sustainable development. This funding from the European Union (EU) has enabled the establishment and equipping of 2 Fab Labs to generate know-how in the field of technology, create research and innovation ecosystems, and facilitate the conditions for technology transfer.
