As part of the deployment of Eco Ride, a two-wheel mobility and delivery solution, more than 100 young people will be trained locally to assemble and drive electric motorbikes in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The commercial bank Rawbank will also offer three training sessions. Each group, 60% of whom are women, will receive training on banking and credit.

The bank will also finance 200 electric bicycles from Mopepe Solutions’ EcoBike offer in Kinshasa, Goma, Lubumbashi and Kolwezi as part of the Car Free Day that will be organised in these cities in these cities in September 2022. The initiative aims to reduce pollution. According to Yacine Fall, the founder of Mopepe Solutions, all these investments will create 1 000 green jobs over the next two years.

Sustainable development on the move

“Sustainable development is a priority for us. Rawbank is committed to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and is taking numerous actions to protect the environment. The partnership with Mopepe is one of the ones we are most proud of. It is an innovative initiative that will benefit all Congolese people,” said Mustafa Rawji, Rawbank’s managing director, as part of a collaboration between the two partners and Vodacom, the subsidiary of the British telecommunications group Vodafone.
