The International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank Group has awarded its "EDGE Advanced" certification to Ivory Coast Terminal. This is yet another accolade in the field of energy efficiency for this port operator, which is committed to the sustainability of its activities.
Good news for the logistics and transport sector in West Africa. Côte d’Ivoire Terminal (CIT), operator of the second container terminal at the Autonomous Port of Abidjan, has just been awarded Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (EDGE-Advanced) certification by the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
The World Bank Group’s private sector financing arm awarded the label for its environmental performance, and more specifically for the energy efficiency of its buildings, such as the maintenance workshop and operations building in Ivory Coast’s economic capital.
The criteria focused specifically on eco-design, the materials used and the rational consumption of natural resources. In this respect, the Ivorian port operator’s eco-responsible policy is currently achieving “energy savings of at least 23% compared with a conventional building, water savings of 30% and energy efficiency of construction materials ranging from 49% to 55%”, explains Assan Gladys, independent auditor of the EDGE label on behalf of the IFC.

This is yet another award for Ivory Coast Terminal, which has also been awarded the Green Terminal label for the second half of 2022 by Bolloré Ports (a subsidiary of the former Bolloré Africa group). The company has, for example, taken delivery of 14 electric tractors, which should help to reduce the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions of its equipment, as well as the noise pollution caused by its industrial activities.
