The investment will enable Sanergy to increase its capacity to recycle organic waste into agricultural and energy products such as insect-based proteins for animal feed, organic fertiliser for regenerative agriculture and biomass fuel for cooking.
“Sanergy’s innovative waste treatment technology and sanitation solutions have the potential to directly support our goals of protecting health and wellbeing, and to be a catalyst for sustainable livelihoods, in line with our Sustainable Mining Plan,” says Peter Whitcutt, Anglo American’s marketing director.
For Ani Vallabhaneni, Sanergy’s CEO, the cooperation will enable his company to expand in Africa, South America and Asia. In addition to its recycling plant in Nairobi, Sanergy is preparing to commission a second facility that will provide sanitation services and reduce landfill waste and CO2 emissions.
