The French company FHE, specialised in energy storage, has just taken its first step on the African continent. It has just signed an agreement with MEDZ, a Moroccan company specialised in the development and management of industrial parks. This agreement is for the construction of a plant in the Atlantic Free Zone in Kenitra, a town located in northwest Morocco.
The future plant will be used primarily to manufacture electronic boards. These are boards that link electronic components together to create an electronic circuit for developing integrated energy management systems. The plant will be installed on 5,000 m2 of land. Work should start in September 2018 and be completed in 2019.
First step on the African continent
“We are pleased to establish ourselves in Morocco and we welcome the support from MEDZ and major institutions such as BMCE Bank of Africa, which enables us to facilitate access to our solutions and services,” said Alain Laloum, Chairman of the FHE Group. On this occasion, the French company will invest more than 37 million Moroccan dirhams, or 3.5 million euros.
This is the first African experience for FHE Group which is present in Europe, notably in France, Germany, Switzerland and is about to develop in Spain and Italy. It has another production unit in France, in Puy-en-Velay, in the south-west of the country. The company intends to sell the electronic cards manufactured in Morocco, on the African market, in Europe and Asia.
FHE Group, headquartered in Perpignan (in the south of France) and currently employing 30 people is specialised in the “development of global electrical and thermal management solutions”. These solutions are designed for individual housing in residential areas and smart cities. The installation of the new plant is a blessing, not only for Morocco, where many jobs will be created, but also for the company that is entering the African energy storage market in order to establish itself as one of the solutions for efficient energy management. Also, the new smart cities, which are currently growing on the continent, will be able to use the equipment manufactured by the FHE Group plant in Kenitra, Morocco.
