The Spanish company Wallbox Chargers will market its electric vehicle charging solutions in Morocco in partnership with the Moroccan company Vital Auto Parts, which specialises in the import and distribution of automotive equipment. “We came to Morocco because we believe that 2023 is the year of electric cars and new models will arrive at least until 2024”, explains Alejandro Criado, the Director of Sales Engineers at Wallbox Chargers.
According to the company, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange in the United States of America, the agreement signed initially provides for the installation of 50 recharging stations in the city of Rabat by the end of 2023. The deployment of these infrastructures will be ensured by the Vital Energy platform and will allow the expansion of ecological mobility within the Cherifian kingdom.
“We will accompany all future purchasers of Wallbox solutions in all the key stages, notably the presentation of the solutions, the installation and the monitoring of consumption data via a mobile application. In this way, we will develop renewable energies to implement intelligent and sustainable mobility”, explains Younes Mellouk, the director of the Mobility division at Vital Energy.

In addition, Vital Auto Parts and Wallbox have joined forces with the Centrale automobile chérifienne (CAC), which imports the Audi, Volkswagen and Skoda brands into Morocco, to offer a recharging station to every new purchaser of electric vehicles. At the same time, the Moroccan authorities are preparing the National Master Plan for Electric Mobility, which will come into being before 2024. The initiative, led by the National Office of Electricity and Water (ONEE), will enable a 23% reduction in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in Morocco’s transport sector.
