The initiative, which is supported by the Enugu State Government, is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. In this region, companies train youths, eventually involve them in development projects and facilitate their empowerment in the environmental and sustainable development sectors.

In January 2021, the Enugu State government awarded Fordmarx Nigeria N600 million (approximately $1.6 million) to implement the 9th Mile Crash Programme water supply rehabilitation project. The program, which includes the conversion of 13 boreholes to solar power, is 90% complete and will provide 28,000 m3 of water per day to the people of Enugu.
