In Africa, the solar energy market remains dynamic despite the difficulties encountered in recent months by its players, particularly because of the Covid-19. This dynamism is boosted by decentralised solutions that facilitate access to electricity on the African continent. For example, off-grid solar systems, which provide electricity and other energy services to 420 million users, now represent an annual market of US$1.75 billion, according to a new report (2020) by the World Bank Group and the Global Off-Grid Energy Association (GOGLA).
Off-grid and other promising innovations that could accelerate Africa’s electrification process will be showcased at this year’s Solar Show Africa, which is being held from 24-25 August 2021 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa. It is an international trade fair that will also allow players in the solar market to discover the trends that can meet the energy needs and change the daily lives of Africans.
The event, which will bring together thousands of participants, will be the place to showcase solutions for access to electricity via solar power. Participants will also have the opportunity to interact with power utilities, Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and other major end users.
